Some additional information about me. I attended traditional Catholic schools almost my whole academic life, and have always been active both academically and athletically. I have been reading since I was 4 and love to read from classic authors such as C.S. Lewis and J.R.R.Tolkien. My sophomore year I was a sports columnist for our school newspaper, and a member of both the running club and fit club. I was introduced to rowing in spring of my junior year as a recommendation from a well known family friend of ours, and the former sports medicine doctor for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Knowing me personally he felt my build and intellect would make me a great rower as his own son had also rowed in college.
During the spring season of my junior year I joined the Cincinnati Junior Row Club (CJRC) as a novice. I competed at the midwest junior rowing championship and medaled in the 3rd novice 8 after only about a month of exposure to the sport. I returned last fall as a varsity member and competed at The Head of the Ohio, Blake Haxton, and I stroked our 3rd varsity 4 at The Head of the Hooch regatta. I then went through our winter conditioning program and dropped my 2k time from a 7:12 to a 6:49.2 within a month with still a lot more room for improvement, giving me the 8th fastest time on our team. I started this spring season in our second 8 and my coach worked with me by teaching me to row port even though I had only rowed starboard both my novice and Fall varsity season. I am now a capable port, but row much better on starboard. Our club rows 3+ hours per day (after school 3:30 pm to dusk in spring days are longer) and six days per week including all weekdays and Saturdays. The current coronavirus situation caused the State of Ohio to shut down our club at least until April 6th with the possibility of being extended. For this reason my coach sent us home with ergometers in mid March and I have been rowing the 10 to 20 kilometer workouts he has been sending us six days per week. I would be very interested in going to a college where I could make a large contribution to the rowing team and would be very interested in any possible athletic aid.
As far as my scholastic side, I have always been a smart, hard working student and usually the youngest in my class, as my birthday is in August. I currently attend a private, classical,Latin accredited catholic school in Cincinnati, called Immaculate Conception Academy www.icaohio.com here is a link. I took the new CLT test on which I scored an 88, which correlates to a 1320 SAT score, 28 ACT score, and was the second highest score achieved in my school.
