I first flirted with the sport of rowing in 7th grade, where I attended a Learn-to-Row camp over the summer after being invited to by a friend. I instantly felt a connection and knew that when high school started I wanted to row. I started officially rowing at Newport Sea Base the beginning of my freshman year in 2018. I developed a true passion and love for rowing. For the entire duration of each summer following my freshman year I volunteered at my clubs Learn to Row Club directly after practice around 9:00 until after 1:30. There I was able to share my love and dedication to the sport, not just in the learning aspect but also the collective sense of team unity the sport provides. During my freshman year, I was asked by my club's Varsity Mens team If I'd compete in a triathlon with them at the UC Irvine boathouse. I had really only been rowing for a few months and this triathlon gave me great exposure to the expectations of hard work and dedication that rowing espouses. I've competed in Regattas, my freshmen year my Novice Freshman Lightweight 4 got 3rd in Southwest Regionals and the following year our Varsity 8 got 4th. Unfortunately regattas took a back seat due to Covid 19, but I have been consistent in my training over this last year. Luckily, I have an erg and practiced via zoom with my team everyday with additional erg workouts. Due to some lifting of restrictions we were able to go out on the water in singles during the Summer, which at first I was unhappy about, but I'm grateful now as it's taught me the importance of technical skill and focus as an individual and how that is needed in a team boat to form a cohesive and competitive unit.
I'm an AP student who has interests in History, Geopolitics, Political Science. I've entertained the thought of and wish to pursue a career in Law, specifically International or Corporate law. I'm an NHS Honor Role student, and I am also proud to say that I'm an Eagle Scout.
I'd like to row in college as it has become a passion of mine; I enjoy the challenge, the workouts and the team aspect. My goal is to continue to work hard to improve.
