Soccer Highlights...Personal Statement
My name is Naithen Gnanavel and I am playing for the Cavalry u20 Team, which is a developmental academy. I live in Calgary, Alberta and I am going to graduate high school in the 2020-21 school year.
The most formidable aspects in my character are my tendencies to work hard and to stay dedicated when facing challenges. My positive attitude towards facing these challenges often makes it easier for me to overcome obstacles. I am a natural leader who is extremely vocal on the field. With these characteristics, I am an asset to any team.
I am unique as a goalkeeper because I am very confident and comfortable on the ball. I use this skill to get out of the “opponent’s press” with quick and accurate distribution. I am prolific at shot-stopping which is partnered with superb reflexes.
As a student-athlete, my academics are just as serious as my soccer and I tend to excel in my chosen subjects in school.
My current favourite subjects in school are Biology and Chemistry, and I often tend to do well in these courses as well. My choice in degree will be closely related to these courses.

- The Calgary Rangers Soccer Club and Sports Association (referred to by members as “Rangers”, “the Rangers”, “Rangers Soccer Club”, or “RSC”) was incorporated as a society in Alberta in 2001 with a goal to provide recreational and competitive opportunities for children throughout Calgary through the sport of soccer. Our philosophy is, and continues to be, to provide all of our youth with the opportunity to play soccer, while providing a high level of competitive soccer and quality instruction. This philosophy to succeed is based on the development of soccer skills in an environment that is fun and encourages risk-taking and creativity.

I have trained with multiple talented coaches/players such as Michal Misiewicz- Sunderland AFC(2008), Jordan Santiago- Cardiff City F.C. and Head GK Coach at Cavalry F.C, Marco Carducci- Cavalry F.C, Jonathan Wheeldon-Cavalry FC JP Crescenzi Canadian Men’s 2011 Summer Universiade Team. Played at Chinooks FC 2017-2019, then Foothills FC 2020-Present.
