John Kelvin Vargas '24 Recruiting Profile

Playing soccer at the highest collegiate level has always been one of my major aspirations. From being encouraged to try out as a goalkeeper at 11 years old in AYSO, to finding my athletic passion. I am lucky to have crossed paths with coaches along the way that have encouraged me to pursue my dreams.

I have strong soccer IQ, high technical ability and strong communication skills. In every opportunity on and off the field, I strive to lead by example and motivate my teammates. I enjoy learning and perfecting my craft from coaches and teammates. I have the upmost respect for anyone who provides feedback and I take the time to reflect on all trainings and games. 

I work year round to improve my game; participating in goalie trainings, attending camps, playing club soccer, and entering my 4th year as a varsity starter. I also practice yoga, golf, and lifting in the weight room to further my athleticism. I dedicate time daily to reviewing my own soccer footage and watching professional soccer to better my soccer IQ.

Equally as important to me is my academic endeavors. My current high school pathway is computer science, and I plan to pursue it as my major in college. I work hard to maintain a high GPA and be an academic scholar. 

I look forward to attending a college where I will excel on the field and in my studies. My ultimate goals are to have no regrets, enjoy every moment, live in gratitude and make every person proud that has taken the time to invest in my betterment as a player, but most importantly as a person.
