Dear coaches,
My name is Josh Weindling, I am a Junior in High School and will graduate in 2020. I was born in Belgium in 2002 to two French parents. My family has a genuine passion for soccer that they passed on to me. Ever since the age of 3, I have had soccer balls at my feet at all times. Soccer is pivotal to who I am today and will hopefully continue defining me in the future. Some of the greatest moments of my life happened on the soccer field in Europe or the US. I remember the goal I scored from 35 yards away when I was 14 years old. Or the banger I recently scored in a high school game from a crazy angle into the top right corner of the net.
I am a 6 ft 1 inch tall and weigh 165 lbs. Although I am a righty, I can also kick with my left (40% of the 16 goals I scored this past club season were scored with my left). I generally play on the wings but I can also play striker.
I currently play on California Rush Soccer Club under coach Herman Munoz. I am a left-winger and was the leading scorer for Rush this past season. I scored 16 goals in 12 games (summer/fall 2018).
I am also a top player on my high school varsity team. I have been on varsity since 9th grade and have been the scoring leader for the team this year and last year. I hope to do the same and to continue scoring prolifically for my college team. It is my dream to play competitive soccer at the college level and to continue to score goals for many more years.
I grew up a lot these past few years and have developed in a very good athlete. I have speed, strength and power. I have quick feet and can handle the ball very well and have great technical skills. I can dribble with efficiency, can hold the ball and know how to use my body to protect the ball when needed.
With all this said, as much as I love soccer I have always been taught to view school first and I am a very good student. I am a hard worker and averaged a 4.0 GPA for this school year first semester. When I am considering colleges, the top priority for me must be great academics and education. Playing for an academically strong institution with a great soccer team would be, of course, a dream come true.
I hope that this statement will find you well and hope we can meet in the not too distant future.
Best,
Josh Weindling
