Soccer is my sport, and I have played it as far back as my memory reaches, beginning while my family and I lived overseas in China. To compete with, strive against, and ultimately overcome an opponent is what I live for, and soccer is my medium to achieve this. Being able to see the improvement in performance resulting from devoting time to practice is amazing, and drives me to try all the harder. Soccer has been the propelling force that has shaped my perseverance and dedication, not only in athletics, but also in other areas of my life such as academics. This feeling that I can improve if I am willing to commit time and effort has set me on a course of constant self improvement, always looking to see what I can do to make my tomorrow better than today.
In both sports and school I am resolute in my endeavor to do the best that I can, pushing myself as hard as is necessary to be the best I can be. Despite the world being turned upside down by Covid-19, I have remained diligent and maintained my grades amid quarantines, hybrid learning, and other inconveniences. Similarly I have continued to maintain my athletics in the midst of the Coronavirus. While my Freshman and Sophomore years were compromised, I did not allow this to stop me, continuing practice with the soccer team as well as off-season conditioning and workouts. The 2020 Fall Season my team was regrettably unable to play, as the season was cancelled. However, some teammates and I organized local pick-up games so we could still have an opportunity to play. Additionally, with no soccer, I ran on the cross country team (cross country, being contact free, was not cancelled) and would have run track and field as well were I not prevented by stress fractures in my right tibia. Looking ahead I hope to be able to continue to play soccer, and will work with the same diligence I have throughout my highschool career. Giving my all to contribute to any team I am on. Once I begin something I will push it through to completion, and no obstacles will stop me. That mentality is what I will lend to anyone I play for/with. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to be hearing from you soon.
