My name is Jaydon Amaru Faal, I am a junior in High-School at Harvard-Westlake in Studio City and I play Center Forward. I would love the opportunity to play soccer at the collegiate level, and once I reach it, winning a collegiate championship would be the most important goal in my life whilst being in college. The three most important things in my life are my mom, soccer, and programming, in that order. I'm sure many prospective athletes go on and on about how soccer is the love of their lives, but what sets me apart from any other player is my drive to reach my goal is unrivaled and instinctual. I started Taekwondo when I was seven years old, after begging my mom to sign me up for two years. After the first day, I was told I would never be any good because my feet pointed inwards too much. At that moment, I decided that I would be the best my coach had ever seen. Every day, after school, I would go into my backyard and train for hours. I set up targets from tree branches, and used the curb to work on my balance; fast forward to my first tournament I took home golds in sparring and form, leaving my coach speechless. Fast forward again, to my last tournament at the age of 9, competing as a red-black belt, at Nationals I took home a gold in sparring and I will never forget the look on my coach's face that day; the look of shock, amazement, and the rememberance of his initial judgements crumpling in his mind. That moment confirmed that I could do anything I set my mind to do, and my goal for the past 4 years has been to become a pro soccer player; a series of injuries sidelined me for a while, but I dedicate every moment of free time I have to practice: getting shooting reps at the local high school, or footwork drills in my room as I watch tv. Whether I go D1, D2, D3, etc is out of my control as I'm late to the recruiting game, but wherever I land, I will win a championship, and when I leave I'll be heading to a higher level: a higher division, semi-pro, pro, maybe I skip a step, maybe I don't but at the end of the day I will reach a pro-level, and I can be quoted on that because it's a matter of fact, a "when" not an "if". I'm putting my all into the sport, and I will continue to put in my all until I can't play anymore.
