Grandview High School’s Varsity Soccer program was absolutely thrilled to make it through to the 5A Colorado State semi-finals this year. As a Junior, I started at right wing every varsity game this season. We had a high number of team members score goals this year. I scored two key goals this season. The most thrilling goal was for the overtime win against cross-town rival Smoky Hill. It was my life-time best soccer moment.
Our team was the Centennial 5A/4A League Champion this year, which is how we got our Colorado state tournament birth. However, we were also the league tournament champion. In league, and in the league tournament, we beat some of the best schools in Colorado, specifically Mullen & Arapahoe. It was truly a golden year for our soccer program and I was pleased to be a part of it.
For my club team, Rapids 2004 Select, we won the Colorado President's Cup tournament this year.
My goal for next year is to bring a state championship to Grandview as Grandview's striker. In club soccer, my goal is to be invited to a Rapids ECNL team. Going into my senior season, I am excited to contribute to an annually successful team, and I am equally excited to work on further improving my play wherever possible. One reason that I consider myself an outstanding recruit is because no matter how well I play, I am always interested in going over past games to bring my game to the next level.
Academically, I am now concluding my junior year. I am taking very rigorous classes, including 5 AP (Advanced Placement) classes. During this school year, I have maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA and 4.86 weighted GPA. I consider myself a distinguished student because of the work I put in outside of the classroom, which translates to higher test scores and better grades. This is an aspect of my character that transfers from me as a student, to me as an athlete. Much like I spend time outside of class preparing for tests, I spend time in the weight room and at home studying film in order to become a stronger, smarter, and more explosive player.
