Landon Welch '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Landon Welch. I currently play for 02/03 SLSG IL ECNL, which I have played on since the Fall of 2017. We compete in the ECNL Boys Midwest Conference. Prior to joining the ECNL team, I played for MEL, a local select team. I was able to play select baseball, school basketball, and track. Being a multiple sport athlete helped me physically develop in many areas. When I joined the ECNL team, I was ready to commit to soccer only.

I am a smart player on and off the field, who brilliantly creates opportunities for myself and my teammates. I excel at keeping ball possession, finding and creating open space, and having composure on the ball. My teammates and coaches compare me to Bayern Munich midfielder, Joshua Kimmich.  

In April 2016, I had the opportunity to train in Scotland with the Glascow Rangers. My younger brother was also offered to attend and with the support of my parents, we were both able to go.  My parents continue to support my love for soccer, as well as providing me with a great education that I plan to further and go into medicine. 

I am in the top 10% of my class and involved in several extracurricular activities, including my high school soccer team. My leadership abilities are seen by being a Student Ambassador and a key player on the school soccer team.

Without doubt, I am a hard working student and soccer player who is able to maintain excellent grades, soccer training, play games, and team travel. I strive to continue this at the next level.
