Victor Kasparov '27 Recruiting Profile

I've played soccer since I've been able to walk. To say the sport is key to my life is an understatement.  I live, breathe and love soccer - the strategy, the teamwork, the struggles, the friendships, the wins and the coming together of the team even in the losses.  I currently play for Bavarian United SC on their U16 MLS Next team and have been with the club's MLS Next program for the past two and a half years.  Last year I led the team in goals and assists.  My dedication to the sport is shown by the fact that I live in Chicago and travel to Milwaukee on a nearly daily basis for practices and games in order to be on this team.  Because of this, and my parents' sacrifices to make this work, I put all my effort into each practice, making each minute count to the best of my ability.  By not taking shortcuts in my own performance, I think this positive energy rubs off on my teammates as well.

Being on this rigorous travel schedule while also managing school at the British International School of Chicago has taught me to be organized and focused in order to balance sports and school.  Academics are extremely important to me as shown by my 4.0 GPA while I take all honors classes.  This summer, the school allowed me to conduct a self-study where I completed an entire year of math on my own during a six week time period and took the IGCSE exam in order to advance ahead one year in my math studies.  This earned me an advanced honors spot in my class.  My drive to be the best I can be on and off the field will prepare me for the challenges of balancing academic excellence and soccer in college.
