After being put on my varsity team as a freshman, I had to work really hard to compete with the older boys on my team. After working hard and eventually losing in our sectional finals, I came out of the season with a serious injury. I had fractured one of my vertebrae and I missed all of my club season due to this injury. During this time period I realized how important soccer is to me. There were doubts of me being able to play again, and I took that very hard. I worked very hard to recover and did all of my physical therapy every day so that I would be able to play again. My first day back to soccer was for tryouts for my school team. After making my varsity team again, I knew that I would have to continue to work hard so that I could get back all of the skills I had before. After hard work at practice and having fun with the team, our road to state ended in our sectional finals again. After this I had more drive than ever to win a state championship. On my club team that year we finished at the top of our division, my skills had improved a great deal. A few games into the next school season, I was put on the starting lineup. It was a different feeling being on the starting lineup, and I had been able to help build a strong team with my teammates. About midway through the season, I got a concussion during one of my games. This concussion put me out for the rest of the season, but I was still an active member of the team. I would still go to practice, watch games and cheer on my teammates on the field. The highlight of the season was winning our state championship that year. I had never felt so accomplished to be a part of such an amazing team.
