James Fry 2023 ...Personal Statement
I have been playing soccer for 14 years, including as goalkeeper on a club team from U8 to U16. In high school, I played JV freshman and sophomore years. I joined the varsity team as a junior and started over our team's senior goalkeeper for late season and postseason games. My goalkeeping style is characterized by playing aggressively on the ball before the other team can get a proper shot off, rather than relying on reflex saves or acrobatics to stop shots. When that isn't an option, my reaction time and many years of goalkeeper training allow me to successfully defend in the box. My collegiate goals are likely to involve a STEM major at a liberal arts college.
