I started high school with everything shut down due or delayed due to COVID. Soccer was moved to the Spring so I ran cross country that Fall to try and connect with other students and upperclassmen. While I was able to play a few JV games that Spring, I struggled to adjust to the bigger, faster style of high school play. By sophomore year, school had somewhat returned to normal. Soccer was back in the Fall and I played JV the entire season. My junior year I got injured on the third day of practice and had to do PT and work my way back. I eventually returned to JV and started multiple games but was disappointed when I was not moved up to Varsity when the post season started. I debated quitting soccer and focusing on another sport, however while I was watching the World Cup, I decided that was just not who I was. I refocused and started working out on my own that Winter and into Spring as club season started. I often would get up before school and workout or skip hangouts with friends in the evening. As the preseason for my senior year started, I had improved so much that coaches and teammates couldn't help but notice. I earned a starting spot on the defensive line and have become an important piece and key player to our team. Helping the back line and our goalie to the most shutouts in the Saint Louis Metro Area and a Third Place finish in Illinois Class 1A. Now it is my goal to continue to play after high school. AI would like to play for a program where I can make an immediate impact and try to win a National Championship. I believe my work ethic and leadership skills on and off the field will help me to become a great college soccer player at any level.
