There is less than one minute left in the game. My team, The Chicago Magic, leads our rival, The Sockers, by one goal. The Sockers has the ball and they are looking to tie the game. I play the left back position. Somehow I know that the ball will be mine to stop from going into the net. I focus. I tense. I am in position and I am ready and steady. Yes, here it comes, right to my left, right where I expected it. The left is my strong side. The goal has been prevented.
Soccer is one of the passions of my life. I am excited when I play. I love the competition, the speed of the game, the teamwork it demands. My teammates and I work hard to synchronize our moves. I fully understand my role on the team and I push hard to succeed.
My determination and drive to be the best in my position has led to much of my success. I try to approach all of life's challenges in just that way. I give my best to my schoolwork and am thriving in my first year in high school with stellar grades. After I complete my homework, I go to practice, determined to bring my best skills to the field. I respect my coaches and listen to them carefully.
I will continue to work diligently to be the best I can be in all my endeavors and this certainly includes soccer. It is my hope that my college career will include playing soccer on my college's soccer team.
