Aidan McMahon '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a strong student/athlete looking for an academically challenging school and a soccer program where I feel my positive attitude,  dedication, work ethic and technical skills will allow me to be a contributor to the team's success.  Soccer has taught me to be disciplined, focused, and adaptable. 

A major part of my soccer development was participating in USYS National League, ODP,  ID2 National Camps and US Youth National Team training centers. Playing with top tier players from all over the country prepared me for quick play and intense learning environments. Having many different coaching voices challenged different aspects of my game and taught me how to adapt. Being able to play multiple positions at these high levels have taught me to read the game better. My most  notable experience in my soccer development  was when I trained abroad at AJAX in Amsterdam. Tenacity and perseverance landed me that opportunity and I embraced the challenge.

Our team was crowned Illinois  2022 U17 State Cup Champions. We also finished as USYS Midwest Regional Semi-Finalists. Finally we ended the season as USYS U17 National Finalist in OT the National Championship game. As a team we worked towards accomplishing these goals together and as a starter I am proud to have played an instrumental part in achieving these goals.

When I was younger physical  size  was an obstacle I had to overcome by perfecting my touch, developing really good feet, being creative on the ball, maintaining my speed, and mastering my one v. one attacking skills. I have been described as a "shifty" player and my ability to move creatively within tight spaces sets me apart. I regularly create scoring opportunities  for my team and when given opportunities in the final third, I find a way to finish. Another thing that sets me apart as a winger is my ability to defend and keep and win possession for my team.  

My strong technical skills, my adaptability as a player and my coachability will make me a strong fit for your program.
