I suffered an injury in the spring of 2016 and missed most of the baseball season, however I still attended practices and games. Our team also suffered the loss of another player to injury. These events allowed me to learn how to deal with sitting on the bench and the loss of a key player. Our team expected to make the State final but came up short so I also got to deal with how that felt.
During the offseason I worked really hard at all the practices and on my own. The next season rolled around and I was ready and excited to come back, compete, and play. We had new team members and we came together quickly and started winning games which led to playing in tournament championships including the State final.
I have developed an extremely strong work ethic which is noticed by my coaches and they have pushed me to become a team leader. I am embracing this challenge and opportunity to grow.
Being a good teammate is more important than being just an individual player. My coach always says "There is no I in team, but there is a Me. As a player you must do your part in order for others to do theirs." This saying has kept me on my toes whenever I was on the field or on the bench. In order for me to be on the field I also have to maintain good grades.
My goal is to be the best student, athlete, leader, and human being I can be.
