*End-of-season update: My high school senior soccer season has come to a close. I finished the season with 28 goals and 16 assists. I set the school record for most goals scored in a single game (6), set a new school record for total points (72), and hold the second-place record for most assists in a single season (16... the record is 17) and second place record for goals in a season (28... the record is 29). I was selected as "96.5 The Cave Athlete of the Week", Athletico Athlete of the Week, and MVP for my team. I was selected to the first team for All-District, All-Conference, and All-Region; as well as receiving All-State Honorable Mention honors. I also received a Scholar-Athlete Award. I am now looking forward to beginning my journey with the Liverpool FC ECNL-RL Ann Arbor team. I will post updates with my schedule as I receive them. A highlight video from the season will be available soon.
My name is Joey Spagnoli and I attend Adrian High School in Adrian, MI. My goal is to play soccer at the collegiate level while studying Accounting/Business/Finance.
I have been playing soccer since I was five years old and have never stopped loving it. The feeling I get while playing soccer is one like no other and inspires me to continue to advance my skills and the skills of my teammates. My love of the sport and my leadership skills put me in the role of Captain of the Varsity Soccer team as a junior. I will continue in this role heading into my senior year. I am also excited to announce I have recently joined the Liverpool FC International Academy ECNL-RL Ann Arbor team. I am looking forward to learning more under their high-level coaching with high-level teammates.
For as much soccer as I have watched on t.v. and played, it wasn’t until I attended an actual collegiate soccer game that solidified my goal of playing in college. It made me realize how much I would miss playing this amazing sport if I didn’t pursue a future that included continuing to play. I’ve had to learn that even though I may not be the tallest player on the field, I play with enough heart and determination to more than makeup for what I lack in height. My desire to win, hard work, and coachability is contagious to those around me and I hope to bring positive energy to my teammates.
I have also had the privilege of volunteering with our Maples Soccer youth camps during the summer. It is so much fun to share my love of the game with aspiring young athletes and help them develop the skills needed to continue enjoying the game.
In addition to being a leader on the field, I am also a leader in the classroom. I have been maintaining a GPA of over 4.0 while enrolled in Honors, AP, and IB courses, as well as being dual-enrolled in college courses. For my senior year, I am enrolling in three dual-enrollment courses at Siena Heights University to get an introduction to my future major and a better understanding of what balancing college courses is like. I am a member of the National Honor Society and have recently been elected to serve as President for my senior year. I have always been on the “Straight As” honor roll each trimester, and have received “Student of the Month” as well as other “Outstanding Student” awards.
I look forward to finding the right team at the right school to continue my soccer career while pursuing my degree.
