I I first became interested in basketball at age six, I started playing at a local YMCA. This is where I learned the basic fundamentals of the game, when I was in the sixth grade I joined my first AAU team… this was an all boys team. At this point I realized that basketball is truly a passion of mine. The following I would join a new girls AAU team, FCA (fellowship of christian athletes). I played with this group of girls for the next 3 years. I also played with another team out of Ann Arbor where I got more exposure to the game, we attended and placed 2nd in our bracket at the AYBT national tournament in Grand Rapids, MI.
Last year I started high school, where I would make the varsity basketball team. We had a very rocky season. In February during a game I tore my ACL, MCL and meniscus. This was the most shocking experience I have ever had, my life changed. I had to have surgery in March and these past 9 months have been a fight. I have had to face so many challenges in order to get back to the game that I love. I am so fortunate to say that I am back to playing court again this year. We have a new coach and have played two games this season, we have won both and we broke a school record. Things are slow with my knee and it is frustrating but I am positive that I can get through this. I am thankful for all the people who have helped me through this journey.
