Eli Leegwater '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello coaches, my name is Eli Leegwater. I’m from Grand Rapids, Michigan and will graduate from Grand Rapids Christian High School in 2022. 

My goal is to do my best in school while maintaining my drive and passion for excellence as a student-athlete. In college, I’d like to pursue a career in either Athletic Training, Sports Psychology or Business. As an athlete, my goal is to play at an elite collegiate level and beyond. I am extremely coachable, dedicated and willing to do whatever it takes to improve myself and my team. My strengths include leadership, communication and vision along with solid decision making and physicality. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, cycling, reading and working on a tree trimming crew in the summer.

A little bit about my soccer journey. In my u13 season, I was moved from a forward to a center back. This was tough but I chose to get to work. I studied the pros and applied it to my training. Despite many failures, I have gotten back up and worked even harder. I can see now how the defensive role complements my strengths and allows me to impact the game. I am grateful for the struggle because through it I have grown and achieved more than I could have imagined. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.
