Coach,
I'm very passionate about my academics and the sports that I play. I've been playing soccer since I was 5 years old and my dream/goal has always been to play college soccer. I'm extremely competitive and I'm always working to make myself better, both on the field and in the classroom! I'm a member of the National Honor Society-NHS (3.99 unweighted GPA, 34 ACT, 1460 PSAT, 1520 SAT), I am an NHS Board Member, and do a lot of community service. I am a National Merit Semi-Finalist, I received the 2017 All-State Academic Award for boys' soccer, and I'm an AP Scholar with Distinction. At Petoskey High School I'm a Freshman Mentor, on the Quiz Bowl team, I'm on the tenor drum line in our award-winning Petoskey Northmen Marching Band which has 260 students in it and I was the Section Leader this year for the tenor line, and I'm a member of our Petoskey Steel Drum Band. I'm also a member of S.A.F.E. which means I've pledged to be alcohol and drug-free and we work with peer groups of students to help to educate our fellow students and the community about the dangers of alcohol & drugs.
This year, in fall 2017, I was the starting varsity goalkeeper as a senior for my high school team, the Petoskey Northmen in Division 2, and recorded 11 shut-outs, started & played in all minutes of every game, won the District Championship with a 5-0 shut-out win, won the Regional Semi-Finals in a double-overtime PK shoot-out, and was a Captain of our team. I was voted as the #1 Division 2 goalkeeper in Michigan by the MIHSSCA and was named 1st Team All-State, All-Region, All-District, 1st Team All-Big North Conference, All-Area Dream Team, and was named Player of the Year by the Petoskey News Review. Last year as a junior in 2016, I was All-State 3rd Team, All-Region, All-District, All-Big North Conference and an All-Area Dream Team goalkeeper. I started in and played every minute of every varsity game last season as a junior, and recorded 5 shut-outs and a District Championship 8-0 shut-out win. I played in 4 varsity games in 2015 as a sophomore (rest of the season I was the starting JV keeper) and also started in one varsity game that year, and my record was 3-0-1, and the game that I started in and played all minutes of was an 8-0 shut-out win. Half of the teams in our Conference are Division 1 schools, and Mr. Michigan Soccer 2016 (from a D1 school) was in our Conference, who you can see me defending against in my highlight video. I regularly attend elite soccer training camps, ID camps, and clinics to further develop my skills. My physical size size (6'3", 185, 77.5" wingspan), together with my work ethic, agility, exceptional diving, quickness, and ability to read the field makes me a formidable keeper.
I've played up 2 years on my club soccer team, Petoskey Lakers Michigan Premier Select team, for the past 6 years, and I know that has also made me a much better player.
I am also a 3-yr. All-State selection for MHSAA ski racing (1st Team, 2nd Team, and Honorable Mention) and our team just won our 7th consecutive Divison 2 State Championship in February 2017. I believe that being a two-sport varsity, All-State athlete makes me a better all-around and focused athlete because I have to use a lot of different physical and mental skills to be tough in both sports.
I'm a positive leader on and off the field, a positive, vocal, and commanding keeper on the soccer pitch, and I believe I would be a very valuable addition to any college soccer team. Thanks for checking out my profile!
