Hi my name is Lander Barrio González. I’m a midfielder from the 23 class from Spain but right now I’m studying at Lutheran High School of Kansas City, Missouri.
I’ve been playing soccer since I was five. My grandpa was the only soccer player in our family and he always inspired me to be the best version of me. He made me start feeling this passion about soccer since I was really young and I haven’t stop feeling that way since then. I like playing basically every sport but soccer always had something that made me like it more the more that I played it. Soccer has been a really important piece in my life since the first day at started playing it. Even being so passionate about soccer I do keep in mind that my priorities in life are my family, soccer, the school and myself.
I’ve played in several positions like forward and striker but all my coaches like me the most at the midfield. I have quality with ball at both feet, I’m good in tight spaces and I can control the ball under pressure pretty well. My field vision is very good, I’m constantly checking over shoulders on and off ball. Even tough I’m not the biggest person on the field I know how to use my body to protect the ball and I play well shoulder to shoulder with everyone.I’m confident with the ball in my feet and I’m really coachable. I’ve been the captain in my team in Spain and I also was the captain here in the US my second year. I am a great leader inside and outside the pitch, I look for my teammates and I always try to help as much as I can to mentally get everyone ready for the games and practices. I’m really competitive and I always like to be the one that works the hardest and that gets ready mentally and physically for everything.
At school, I always try to have the best grades posible. I do gotta say that my first year in the US was really tough for me to adapt so my grades weren’t as I expected them but in my second year I was completely adapted and I maintained that 3.6 GPA as a foreign exchange student.
My goal is to attend the most competitive level of college soccer and to get myself around those who has that same passion. I’ve always wanted to become a professional soccer player and playing at the college soccer level I think it’s gonna open a lot of doors for me and for soccer career.
