My name is Schyler Smeby, I am a 17 years old, Junior at Bellevue East High School. I was the varsity goalkeeper for the Boys’ Soccer team my freshman, sophomore and junior year starting all varsity games. I was selected as a Nebraska All State Honorable Mention my freshman year of high school. During the high school off season I belong to the Gretna Gold 03 boys team. I have been the starting goalkeeper for my select club team since age 11. We play in the Nebraska League Premier 2 Division. During 2019 Fall Nebraska state cup, I was selected one of the Best 11 by opposing coaches, which was very exciting for me. During the 2020 Fall Nebraska State Cup our team made it to the semi-finals. I have been apart of the Nebraska 2004 ODP team for the past four years. I plan on continuing my soccer career after high school playing at a four-year university with the desire to play professionally. If pro soccer doesn't work out, I would like to stay around soccer and use my mathematics skills to support a college or professional team in some capacity.
I work hard in the classroom and do my best and understand that my grades are very important to my future education. My freshmen year I took three advance classes, my sophomore year I took three more advance classes, one being a World History AP class. My junior year I took 2 more advance classes, AP Calculus AB and AP Physics. I completed my mid term junior year with a 3.83 GPA. I played on the JV Tennis team my freshman and sophomore year. I have been a member of my school's varsity show choir, Take 2, since my freshman year. I have been a Nebraska State certified referee for the last 5-6 years.
I remain close to the soccer world by volunteering for Bellevue Soccer Club. I was asked to assist in coaching a U11/U12 team the past two seasons. I help with coaching TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) where we assist in training athletes with special needs. I also have helped my club's firework stand for the past three years. I am also active in my community, volunteering for several activities such as the Food Pantry, Bell ringer for the Salvation Army during the holidays and have visited nursing homes several times spending time playing games with the people there.
I just began using Soccer Intelligym to better myself, heighten my awareness on the pitch and increase my soccer IQ.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the full support I have from my family. I am very appreciative and fortunate to have such a supporting family.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me!!
