Introduction-
Hello Coaches,
My name is Joseph Zisa, I am currently a sophomore soccer player at Mercer County Community College. I am planning to finish my Associate's Degree in business administration, in the Spring of 2022. With the desire of achieving my dreams of being recruited by a four year school, I have been working endlessly since the start of my playing career at the age of 4, to do so. Growing up in a strong soccer loving home, I would eat, breathe, talk, and sleep soccer. Not one day passed that I did not get a few touches on the ball, trying resemble my idols on the television. My weekends were made up of either playing myself, or analyzing the performance of top professional teams, and talking almost my family about these events.
As a boy, I enlisted a certain type of mentality in my head where I want to be good all of the time, and not just at selective moments. Also, if I believe I am a good player it is important that I become comfortable with what I first believed was uncomfortable. Meaning, I constantly challenge myself to get to my optimal performance. This has stuck with me every time I tie up my boots, and I plan on never ending my challenge's. At the high school level I have been humbled to say that I played 1 year of junior varsity, 3 years of varsity, 2 years as the captain leading the team to the first semifinal of the county tournament in 8 years. I also have been mentioned on my all-conference 2nd team, 3rd team, and a mention as an all-state athlete, followed by receiving an award for the 2020 Hibernian Soccer Senior 11 Team. But that is in the past, I have more dreams to achieve. At the colligate level I want to be able to achieve everything possible my team can in that year, while feeling as if we are well oiled machines. For me, the team environment is what is most important for success of the campaign. The responsibility I put on myself is to make sure everyone around me is as motivated, determined, and willing to give their hearts for their teammates. When the team is on the same page all around, then I can be one step closer to achieving what I want as a colligate athlete.
What I want my coaches to know about me as a player is that I am very versatile player and a democratic leader. My natural position was a center defensive midfielder, but in my collegiate games I have been placed as a winger, and striker. If the team needs assistance in one part of the field I am willing do go wherever needed, because I have the confidence and abilities to make something positive. I'd say my strongest attributes as a player is my speed, physicality, passing range, speed, and the willingness to give 100% at all times. I am a player that likes to pay close attention to details, so when it is time to attack and defend I can use my intelligence of the game to outsmart the opposition to get the result the team needs. I am truly honored and grateful that I have been able to continue my playing career, and feel blessed that I have an opportunity to make my dreams come true, with the help you.
Thank you,
Joseph Zisa
