Hello my name is Cody Franklin and I go to Canisius High School in Buffalo NY. I eat , sleep and breath soccer 7 days a week. I am the starting goalie and the youngest of the 4 goalies on my school Varsity team. This season I have played the entire game of all division games for my team. I also played soccer for Empire 04 team where in 2018 we took third place in the State Cup. I will continue to play for the Empire 04 team this 2019/20 season. Along with my team training I also train with a goalie trainer 1 or 2 times a week. Before Empire 04 I played for Elite Soccer Academy in Canada. On this team I was trained by Tukkaa Salonen a former European pro soccer player. He took us to Germany for 10 days to play against international teams and to train with the Frankfort goalie coach. What I believe sets me apart from other goalies is that the end of every game I am open to my coaches critique and advice how to be a better keeper. It is not my teams fault for allowing the ball down the field it is my job to stop them from scoring. I am also a wrestler which I believe is where my mental toughness and ability to never give up comes from. I went undefeated in 6th & 7th grade and started Varsity wrestling in 8th grade. I have been wrestling for 10 years and my freshman year of high school I placed second in all catholic sectionals.
As for my academics I am going to Cansius High school which is a top Jesuit school in New York. The transition from public school to private has was challenging at first but I now find myself excelling and improving across all subjects. I meet twice a week with Dr. Farkis who is a tutor that works with me on time management, study strategies and all around help where ever needed. My school requires us to spend between 2 to 3 hours studying and working on assignments every night and there are many nights it takes longer then that. Hard work does not stop me from accomplishing my goals. In the future I would like to pursue sports medicine, I am currently very interested in specializing in sports medicine and prosthetics. I feel it’s important to have a career I am passionate about and the more I research this field the more I want to learn. As you can see I am a very dedicated hard working student who wants a bright future doing what I love on the field and in the class room. I am aware to excel you must give your all and I look forward to what the future holds.
