Personal Statement

My passion for soccer dates back many years. I started playing when I was three years old in my backyard. Some days I would stay out for hours, not wanting to come inside. As I grew up, soccer stayed with me everywhere I went. If I wasn't playing, then I would watch games on TV, which is still the case today. I knew soccer was more than a hobby for me when simply touching a soccer ball was the highlight of my day. Today, I still feel these emotions when playing and watching soccer. In addition, soccer has taught me how to overcome difficult challenges. For example about three years ago I was placed on a team two years above my age group that was ranked within the top five in the nation. At first, I was scared to even touch the ball, but after playing and adapting to the team,  I now enjoy playing with the team.  I know that I have grown stronger by overcoming this challenge.

Although soccer is a big part of my life, I am also very serious academically. I believe that a school which is strong both academically and athletically is the best fit for me. Both school and soccer have taught me strong moral values that I can carry with me throughout my life. As a result, my leadership and discipline allow me to be a great teammate and model for others to follow!

  • EXACT Soccer Camper Performance Report Mid-Atlantic I Boys Multi College ID Camp - Nov 10, 2017 Report Prepared by Coach Evan Brandsdorfer of St. Peter's College. Skillset Overview (Rating: 100 Point Scale) 1) Technical Abilities - 92 Dribbling - Quality with ball at both feet. Good in tight spaces, and makes good use of moves to beat defenders. Ball Control - Quality first touch in space, and controls the ball under pressure. 2) Tactical Abilities - 89 Vision - Field vision is very good. Constantly checking over shoulders on and off ball allows for quick decisions. Speed Of Thought - Has good ideas and tries to play fast. This will only help future growth. 3) Physical Abilities - 92 Speed - Great speed overall, in particular when running into space. Will be an important asset going forward. Strength - Did a good job handling challenges and played well shoulder-to-shoulder. 4) Mental Abilities - 92 Competitiveness - Showed a strong desire to win and seems to enjoy the competition. Keep working hard! Coachable - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach Comments A coach should look at Alex because he is a very dangerous offensive player who looks to get forward at all times. He likes to start out wide and cut in and take chances. His technical skills help him to get out of situations and be productive. I also really liked how coachable alex is, and he will be a very dangerous college player.

  • JOEL SANTIAGO Joel Santiago, youth player and youth coach for Sporting Portugal, worked in Holland and Portugal before coming to NY where I started with NY Red Bulls academy, went on to biggest youth club in the state (Manhattan soccer Club) and am currently Director of Coaching with Cleveland Whitecaps. ----------------- August 6th, 2017------------------------------------------------- I shall add that Alex is the most exciting player I worked with this past year. And I have worked with international pro players, #1 ranked players in their state and European based pros this year. Alex has potential to go anywhere he wants and the work ethic to match it.------------------------------------------------ Connecting midfield and attack seems to come natural to him and fit his characteristics. A forward supporting a striker or a classic number 10 seem to me the positions one can take better advantage of his quality.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
