My name is William Thornton. I am a junior at Charlotte Catholic High School and I play for Discoveries Soccer Club and Charlotte Soccer Academy playing right and left midfield and center midfield. I am a very determined player and I always work hard to achieve my goals; many coaches have described me as versatile and coachable. My strengths are dribbling, making runs, moving on and off the ball, passing, moving the ball quickly, maintaining possession and directing the play of the game from the back field. Some qualities that I exemplify are determination, responsibility, leadership, self-control, confidence, and mental toughness.
I was captain for my high school team so I have experience as a leader but I also am able to follow directions and take advice from my coaches and teammates to become a better player. For my club team, we won the 2015 NC State Cup and went to Texas to compete in Regionals. Again, we won the 2018 NC State Cup and will be competing in regionals this summer.
In school, I strive to maintain an academic focus and good grades. I have a 3.8 grade point average. Currently, I am taking honors and advanced classes and I work very hard to keep the highest grades possible.
I have played soccer for 12 years because I enjoy being part of a team, the competition, and the challenges that I face. My goal is to play collegiate soccer because I am ready to bring my game up to the next level after high school.
