At age three, my family and I moved to El Salvador. As I grew, those around me played soccer and I wanted to join the sport. As I started playing, I had to work diligently to compete at the El Salvadorian level. We moved back to the States in 2012. We moved to a small country town in Eastern North Carolina where soccer was not a sport played at the public school nor the recreational league. To play on a competitive team, I traveled an hour each way to play the sport I had grown to love.
Some see this as a disadvantage; however, it allowed me to develop determination. I overcame not being able to play with a school team during the fall season and still develop the skills necessary to be competitive for the spring season on two club teams. This determination has also helped me become a better student. I have no doubt I will be a great asset at the next level. I am ready to grow as a person and develop my craft as a player.
