hello, My name is Alex Bruno
I will be starting off my personal statement with the beginning of my varsity career. The beginning of my varsity career began my sixth grade, my first year of middle school. During this time of my varsity career, it was very tough for me to start on a varsity squad with players who have more capability with their physicality. Even though I did not play as much as I wanted but the season went pretty well for the whole team we went to the first round of the state championship but unfortunately, we were not able to pass to the second round. In my seventh-grade season, I was not on the team since I was playing travel soccer.
During my 8th grade season, it went pretty well. I would not say that it went great, well it did not start off great but it ended pretty great. At the beginning of the season, we were doing pretty well like every other team. we had win's and draws but the points were not enough to get to the state championship. Our last two matches that we played were very decisive, we lost both matches and we also lost our direct pass to the state championship as well which was very devastating. We were depending on our rival school team to get the win over another school. we sat down on match day to watch our rival school play live. our team and our coach all went to his office to watch the game where we received a call right after telling us that we were invited to the state championship tournament. During the state tournament, we went to all the games being motivated and feeling very cocky. which was a good enough feeling. I was able to score 4 goals and give out 3 assist in the state tournament. we managed to reach the state championship and managed to beat our rival school in the state championship 6-0. I was able to give out an assist during the match. I was able to be the youngest state champion in varsity in the state of North Carolina. I was 14 at the time.
My freshman season was pretty good, I say pretty well because of how far we were able to go in another state tournament. we were not able to have a preseason as a team together due to the pandemic. I was the first captain of my varsity team this season, Our season did not start off very well at all we were defeated in our first two matches. As a team captain, i was giving out talks to my teammates not to lose motivation but to stay motivated since we can still regain those points later on in the season. we eventually ended up making the state tournament, the tournament was a bit difficult due to the fact that we were playing u18 clubs instead of high school teams, which is very great. we managed to knock out every team in our path. we eventually made it to the final where we played toe to toe with combine academy a UPSL league team but we ended up losing.I was Named the silver defender of the CAA4SC defender of the tournament.
