From a young age, my parents gave me lots of opportunities when it came to sports. I played baseball, basketball, golf, and I swam competitively. I learned from and enjoyed each of these opportunities, but at the age of four I fell in love with the game of soccer! With each season and team experience, my love and commitment to the sport of soccer has continued to grow. I am truly excited to explore the opportunity of playing soccer at a collegiate level.
I pride myself on always being early to practices and games, and I aim to be one of the hardest working players. Last year I had the honor of serving as one of the captains of the Mount Tabor High School JV team. I was elected by my peers to serve in this role. I strive to lead by example and encourage my teammates to be successful on and off the field. In order to make our team, players must be able to run a mile in under 6 minutes. While this is easy for me, some of my teammates struggle with this fitness test. Last year at tryouts, I had already successfully completed the mile run and did not need to do it again; however, I wanted to ensure that all were pushing themselves, so I elected to run the mile with those struggling. I paced them and encouraged them to give it everything they had. I am literally willing to go the extra mile for my teammates!
I work hard year round on my soccer skills. I train all summer with my high school team to prepare for our season, then transition to my winter training in preparation for my club/travel team season. During the summer I serve as a junior coach for my neighborhood summer swim team. I assist with practices and compete as a swimmer during meets. I also help my high school coach with a one week soccer camp for kids K-8. I spend time in the gym year round lifting weights and doing cardio. All of this contributes to my athleticism and overall soccer IQ.
I am a proud member of the National Honor Society and work throughout the school year to maintain a strong GPA. Music has also been a big part of my life since starting piano lessons at age 5. I started playing the trombone and tuba in the band in 6th grade. My freshman year I participated in the Mount Tabor High School Marching Spartans marching band. Marching band and soccer are the SAME season, so this proved to be a challenge. For three weeks I had soccer training 6-8 am, marching band 8am-5pm, and then headed back to the soccer pitch for 6-8 pm training. It was exhilarating and exhausting. I was incredibly sore throughout these weeks and this was much in part due to marching with my 50 pound contrabass tuba. In spite of the crazy schedule, I played in all soccer games that season and competed for and made All County, All District, and All State band. While I enjoyed marching band, my love for soccer and my team is far greater; therefore, I decided to focus on soccer for the remainder of my high school career. I still take band during the school day, but after school it is all soccer!
I want to attend college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the soccer field. I am excited to explore my options in an effort to find the right college fit.
