Filip Arbutina '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Filip Arbutina. I am passionate, driven, consistent and persistent and I am very serious about the game of football (soccer)

I am a dynamic and technical defensive midfielder with an advanced understanding of the game. Through studying pro players for hours from a young age, and consistently analyzing my own footage I have adopted exceptional positional awareness. This makes me a tough target for defensive lines, both pressing lines or low lines.  It also allows me to conduct the tempo of the game.

I have consistently played with players 1-2 years older than me since I was 12.  This exposure to bigger and quicker and more athletic players has enhanced my ability to use my body effectively, and the development of my advanced technical skill.  It has also given me confidence in myself.  I know what I am capable of.  I believe in my ability to succeed at collegiate level and beyond.

My accomplishments are not limited to the pitch. I highly value my academics and extra curriculars.  Both are crucial part in maintaining myself as a well-rounded individual. 

I enjoy learning about different aspects of business.  I take particular pride in my role as sector analyst and VP of current events on the school business team where we successfully manage a stock portfolio of real money.  I have been awarded a “business tie” - formal recognition by the team for my impact and achievement within the team. For the past three summers I have spent time working in various roles in a manufacturing facility which is hands on and practical.  I use my earnings to contribute to my own investment portfolio which I have been managing for about two years now. 

Inside the classroom I have consistently maintained a 90% academic average throughout high school. 

My accomplishments inside of the classroom coupled with my drive and ability on the pitch make me a strong candidate for top collegiate programs.
