Gavin Groos '22 Recruiting Profile

Soccer has been a huge part of my life ever since age 5. I started playing recreational soccer and made the switch to club soccer with Dakota Alliance Soccer Club (DASC) at an early age. My club team is rated 1st in the state of South Dakota. I am a starter in the attacking mid position. In addition to club soccer I am also a member of my high school varsity team and I am a varsity starter and captain.  My high school team won the state championship in 2019 and we lost in the semi-final game in 2020. In addition to club and high school soccer I have also been part of the Dakota Olympic Development Program  (ODP) since 2014.  The summer of 2019 I was nominated and attended the regional ID camp in Saginaw, MI. In the fall of 2020 I was selected for the Midwest ODP player pool for the US Youth Soccer ODP Inter-Regional event in Orlando which was unfortunately canceled due to COVID-19. My experience with ODP has helped me to realize what it takes to be a team player at a high level. My love for the game also landed me my first couple part time jobs one, as a soccer referee for young children in our community and most recently coaching children in the YDA (youth developmentacademy) with DASC. I am looking for a college that meets both my academic and athletic desires.
