** Update 4/18/22. Our varsity season is over and I scored 21 goals with 16 assists. Our team qualified for district playoffs, which is great considering it's only our second year since our school opened. I was honored to receive the All-District award of Most Valuable Forward for the district. Also received All-Region 1st team, Academic All-District, and was selected by San Antonio Express News for their Super Team, division 4a.
*UPDATE: I finished my first varsity season at Davenport High School as a striker. I put in 27 goals during the season, as well as 11 assists. I received Newcomer of the Year award for the district and Soccer MVP for the season. In addition, I ran Varsity track for our school and all our relay teams. Our 4x100 m team advanced to the Regional meet where my split time was 11 seconds. I continue to train off the pitch at Only the Elite, a personal training gym. We filmed a video of some of my benchmarks and I posted it on my Twitter feed @Wolvessoccer5, in addition to other highlight videos from both high school and club games.
Original Personal Statement:
Growing up in Texas, it was expected that I would play football and baseball. I tried them out, enjoyed the competition, but it wasn’t until I stepped onto a soccer pitch eight years ago that I felt truly at home. This was it, the sport I wanted to spend all my time playing. I love the physicality, and the mental toughness required to win against skilled opponents. Currently, I'm rostered with two different club teams (Lions FC Schertz 04 and 05 boys) which gives me more touches on the ball. Playing on a college team would be a fantastic opportunity to improve as a player while getting a college education.
As a sophomore, I’m still deciding on what my interests or major will be, but most likely it will be in the STEM fields, specifically engineering. School is important to me, which is why grades always come first. I look forward to the recruiting process and finding a school that is a good fit.
I love soccer and if I'm not practicing or playing with a team, you'll usually find me practicing shots in the backyard or finding a pickup game of basketball at the school. I don't have a lot of time for hobbies but I do love watching documentaries on the History channel or reading anything by Erik Larsen. I also love competing in track. This year, I competed on the varsity track team, where our 4x100m relay team advanced to the Regional Meet and missed qualifying for the State meet by .005 seconds. I currently hold the school track record for the 400m dash and three relay teams. I also train with a personal trainer on my off nights for soccer, working on agility, jumps, explosive movements, etc. My vertical was measured at 38", which pays off during corner kicks. School is also important to me, and my grades are consistently A/Bs. Most important in my life is family and faith. I have two older brothers and a younger sister, and my father is a military surgeon who was deployed four times (now retired) while my mother is the ringmaster of our family circus.
