Henry Bowland '21 Recruiting Profile

My mom jokes that I was born with a ball at my feet. My first words were shoes on and ball. Soccer has been the biggest constant in my life. As a homeschooling family for many years, we traveled a lot. No matter where we went I insisted on playing soccer, even if I didn't speak the language like the week I spent with PSG. I am never satisfied with my play and always look for ways to grow, to be a better player and teammate.  My academic success in the classroom and my athletic success on the field make me a strong candidate to play College soccer for your program.

Some of my soccer highlights include playing in several international tournaments, international camps, and trips to FC Barcelona, Paris, Belgium, Amsterdam, England, and Scotland. Most recently, I have had the opportunity to play high level matches at the high school and club level. My team won the finals of the North Texas Elite Showcase against the some of top High Schools in the country in January of 2020. I also played in the finals of the Texas State 6 A Championships in 2019 with L.E.E High School, where I was voted to the Texas Class 6A Second Team All State Team (Midfielder) as a sophomore. We were 17-0-1 in 2020 when our season was cancelled in March. I led the district with 10 goals and 11 assists in 18 games and was the District Co-MVP.  One of my greatest accolades was being named captain of my High School team two years in a row (Ranked number 1 in the State and 2 in the country) by my coach. 

I also am proud that our High School team has posted a 60-6-9 record since I have been the starting holding Midfielder. In 2018, I was starting center midfielder on the National ENPL 17U Championship team while playing with San Antonio Classics Elite, and I also participated in several soccer camps including the US National Training Camp throughout my soccer career where I learned to compete with the best players in the country.
