Hello, my name is Dylan Haskins. I was born in Costa Rica and have been playing with a ball since I could walk. I am around the sport constantly through my family and my lifestyle. I play goalkeeper and love the high action diving and enjoy the ball at my feet.
I have been playing club soccer since I was 4 years old starting with our local team, then moving on to a more competitive travel club in the 7th grade where I was a captain. This year I moved to the Blackwatch Burlington Premier team in pursuit of an even higher level play. I have played for the Vermont Olympic Development Program for the past three on their tournament team. I have also played two years of varsity for my high school and became the starting goalie my sophomore season.
I have excellent ball handling skills. I may be undersized but I compensate by my exceptional jumping ability and diving skills. I am a team leader and am a very flexible player who will to do whatever is best for my team. Although I am primarily a goalie I also play as a defensive player. I have volunteered to give up my spot in the goal in times that my team has lacked defensive players. I am hardworking and passionate about the sport. My sophomore year I earned both a spot on the Times Argus All Star team and the Vermont High School boys soccer coaches All state Capital league second team.
I have been fortunate to travel internationally to play soccer and get a different perspective on how soccer is played in different parts of the world. I spent three summers in middle school in Costa Rica playing on a local team and pickup games with my older cousins and his friends. I also traveled to Barcelona with my club team to play friendly matches against local teams and to Portugal with my high school to play in one of the biggest competitive youth international soccer tournaments against teams around the world.
I am not only a leader on the field but also a leader in the classroom. In eight grade I was a Legislative Page in the Vermont State Legislature where I learned to balance keeping up with my studies while being outside of the classroom. Currently I serve as a member of the Principals Advisory Committee at my high school.
I want to attend a college where I can pursue my interest in sports management and where I can have a high level of competition on the field. I appreciate your interest in me and look forward to meeting you in person.
