Growing up I was surrounded by sports, my mother played volleyball, my father played football, and they both ran track. Sports have played a major role throughout my family which is why playing in college is so important to me. When I was a young boy I became involved in many sports such as track, baseball, and swimming, but the one sport that truly spoke to me was soccer. I instantly loved the game and began my soccer career when I was around 4 years old. Playing soccer has changed my life significantly and has fueled my determination to play in the highest possible college environment.
My name is Caleb Shirey and I am a rising junior at South County High School in Lorton Virginia. I just completed my second season as a starting Midfield varsity player for both my freshman and sophomore years. Furthermore, I am a starting Midfielder on my club team Braddock Road Youth Club. I have been playing for BRYC since I was 8 years old and I have started almost every single game. I am looking to play college level soccer while also gaining a degree in Business and Finance.
College is not only another step in my journey towards becoming a well educated citizen in the field of business and finance, but also the next step in furthering my soccer career. I hope to surround myself in a college community full of knowledge, innovation, creativity, and dedication to the betterment of society. I want to be able to learn at an advanced level, but at the same time practice and train my soccer abilities in an elite environment. Combined with my past soccer experience, I believe that these experiences will allow me to become a great athlete who can later inspire the minds of our society's youth to play the beautiful game of soccer.
