I got interested in swimming when I watched Michael Phelps in the 2016 Rio Olympics Games. Mr. Phelps inspired me to swim competitively a year later when I was 12 years old. I even read his book called “No Limits.” This sport has taught me many life lessons; such as goal setting, time management, processing the coach’s instructions into action, how to turn failure into motivation, perseverance, and being a good role model for my teammates by encouraging them to do their best. Most importantly, it has taught me to work hard for my goals and has made me more confident and outgoing. Without the support of my mother and sister, I could not have accomplished all of this.
I have been swimming at the Varsity level since my Freshman year of high school. However, my progress was interrupted by COVID-19 for 16 months. In July 2021, I re-started swimming in my Junior year and joined the Hamilton Varsity team once again. Due to the interruption, I returned with more determination and commitment to improving my time. I am an accomplished student with a high unweighted GPA. I enjoy using my creativity and artistic skills to create something beautiful. At home, I love helping my mom cook, organize, build, design, and fix things around the house.
I would love to pursue swimming in college to refine my skills to the next level because I enjoy the competitive nature of the game and the camaraderie of the team. I am a hard worker, disciplined in my approach, have a positive outlook on life, and love to promote others. I am excited to make a strong impact on my future swim team.
