Personal Statement

I strive to be better every day. There's always something I can be improving on, whether it's academically, athletically, or musically. What I believe is that success comes from working every day. Procrastinating is just another excuse to not do tasks. I'm currently a freshman in high school right now. I've come far along in this path to the Olympics, but I now know that in order to make it to the Olympics, I'm going to have to put in the most work during these next few years. And hopefully, by the time that I'm a senior, I can be proud of the road I've paved and the next highway that's to come: college. On this path, I know there's going to be a lot I have to sacrifice in order to become an animal in the water. And I know that it's going to be rough, I will fail at times, but it's all a part of the process to learn new things and execute them in the water. I hope to see you soon.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • USA Olympic Training Center at Colorado Springs
  • 1/19/23 to 1/22/23
  • 33 of my teammates, including I, will be swimming at the Olympic Training Center at Colorado Springs in January. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime event for me as I get to experience life as a top-tier swimmer for 4 days. I hope I learn more about what it takes to become a professional athlete.
  • Camp/Event
  • National Select Diversity Camp
  • 10/21/21 to 10/24/21
  • Day 1 was working drills with Russell, working on technique with all the coaches and getting a feel for all the athletes we would be swimming with. I was swimming with guys who would go 47s in a 100 free at practice, and they opened up to me like a new comrade at West Point. Day 2 we did a lot of fly and IMs during long course practice, and got to talk about nutrition and mental health with professional sports nutritionists and health advisors. Day 3 was the fun day, where we did relays and a brutal freestyle main set in the morning, but we also got to see Allison Schmidt talk about her training mindset at practice and at a race. It was the best camp I've been to so far in my career and I hope to make it to more camps to meet more swimmers from across the nation.
  • Camp/Event
  • BVAL Championships
  • 4/09/21 to 4/10/21
  • This was my first ever big high school championship coming out of COVID, and safe to say it was one of my best championships to date. Perhaps it was because my best senior friends at that time were about to graduate, so I made it my best attempt to make sure that they graduated with the best relay times and best individual times for their high school season. We started off with a bang, beating other high school teams in the medley relays, and then we struggled with winning individual events. Many of my teammates' cheering faltered once we started losing. However, I never gave up on my teammates and I continued to cheer them on, gifting them the courage they needed to finish strong. After the last relay, we won by a close hand touch. I loved every moment I had with my friends, and I hope one day I will be able to see them again.
  • Camp/Event
  • Fitter and Faster Swim Camp
  • 10/12/19 to 10/13/19
  • Day 1 was working on freestyle technique, specifically working on correcting low elbows, rotation of shoulders, etc. Day 2 was on backstroke technique, specifically working on rotating shoulders, slight bent-knee kick, and many drills to help work on backstroke technique.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
