My name is Benjamin Butler and I am an athlete who has always been most comfortable in the water. I have swam competitively since the age of 6, but have also trained as a water polo athlete since I was 11. Because of the two sports, I have split my time between the two throughout my high school years - playing in club for both, simultaneously. I returned to swimming in high school and found I was very fast in the middle distances - 200 free, 500 free. I absolutely love the intensity of swimming - both in training and when I stand on the blocks and look down that lane. I look forward to swimming in college and to the opportunity to train consistently with a strong coach and among other top swimmers. I am a very focused, very coachable swimmer and I know that I have not yet reached my potential in the sport. I have been very successful in the 200 and 500 free, but will be working on fly and back this year as I broaden my skills. I will bring an intensity to your program as well as a desire to build community. I know that with focused coaching, I will become one of your top swimmers. I am looking for a program where I will grow not only as an athlete and in my character, but also learn and prepare for my career after college. I look forward to finding a place where I can continue to learn and grow as a swimmer and as a person - with a community and a coach who helps me with that.
