My name is cooper rivers . I am 17 years old, I live in Lake Elsinore, CA, and I am a student athlete. Swimming is my talent. I participate in swimming on a competitive level and have been involved in Southern California Swimming for the past 10 years. Currently I am a senior in high school, and it’s safe to say that I would not have accomplished what I have without having swim in my life. I see myself as a competitive, social, positive person. These personality traits have been implanted in me through swimming and the friends that I have obtained throughout the years.
My swim career has been in a lot of different places. I have been a part of three different teams, one of which I have been in two separate times. Each team is different in its own way, and has helped changed my character and my ability in the sport. A characteristic that I have developed is a drive to try and be the best me I can be. By that I mean: being active with different clubs programs, and activities at school, pushing myself to reach for the next step as soon as I make an accomplishment, and learning from my failures to better prepare myself for when the next obstacle arises. This mindset has helped in school and has helped me achieve the times that I have in swimming. This mindset also comes with having a positive attitude.
While I’m in the pool or on the pool deck I like to have fun. You will rarely see me not smiling while I’m at practice or out with friends. I use a positive attitude to raise the spirits of my peers, help out anyone who may be having a hard time or in a bad place, and motivate my teammates to push themselves to reach for goals that they feel they are not able to accomplish. These things I feel are necessary to being a part of a team, and in college I know that being a part of a team is a big deal. This is my way of showing my teammates and classmates that I am there for them and that they can accomplish anything that they put their minds to. These traits are the two main things that swimming has put into me.
Swimming is my talent. These are the things that I want people to know about my swim and what it has done for me. Swimming is the most meaningful activity that I have participated in and will be with me for the rest of my life.
