Swimming is an integral part of my life, and has been for almost 11 years now.  It has provided me with a myriad of skills that have allowed me to excel within various aspects of my life.  My time within this sport has been filled with a sense of determination and drive for the betterment of myself and my teammates, whether in the pool or not. I always strive to be better then I was the days prior and I put just as much effort in making sure that those around me do the same for themselves. Encouraging  a teammate to  put forth their maximal effort towards the completion of a specific goal, whether athletically, educationally, and/or socially, always gives me the motivation to do better myself.  As a collegiate athlete, my yearning for improvement not only as an individual, but also as a team, will grow in magnitude. I want to be useful to my team not only as an athlete, but also as a part of a community and family, endeavoring for the betterment of the program as a whole.

Educationally, I have always been at the top of my class, pushing myself to achieve commendable test scores and grades. My determination to continue to better myself educationally, has propelled me to take courses that not only fit my interests and goals, but that also challenge me. My education in the arts, as exemplified by my 14 years of violin, have shown me a different point of view on life and learning. Much different then what I have gained within my interests in the sciences. I believe that my well rounded-ness has allowed me to better appreciate what I learn in everyday life and education. In college, though I desire to major in the sciences with a Pre-Med track, I will cherish my learnings in the arts. I will utilize my broad interests and learnings, as well as my determination for educational improvement, to ensure that I meet the goals that I set for myself.
