I am a hard working, energetic, and easy going person. I can adapt to any workout with ease. And I’m not only a hard worker in my sports, but also in the classroom. This is can be proven by how I took AP English, Pre-calc G, and two sciences last year. But it also shows in my sports.
For example: In Cross Country I made it as an alternate for my team at State my Sophomore year. I knew it would be hard to make it on the State team, so I started running on my own to improve just a little bit more than everyone else. I started with a 21 minute 3-mile time and through my vigorous work ethic I managed to drop the time all the way down to a 17:36. Now you might be thing what about swimming? Well since I wanted to focus on my running I ran for High School in the fall, spring, and the summer. I did swimming for High School in the winter and that’s all I could fit in. Luckily I was still able to drop a decent amount of time my Freshman and Sophomore years with only high school season to improve off of. But I realized during my Sophomore year right after high school season that I wanted to focus on swimming again.
So after 2 years I jumped back into summer swimming and amazed everyone including myself. I managed to drop HUGE amounts of time! I made a hard goal for myself over summer and that was to get onto the National team. So I put in all the hard work that I learned from my running career and put it into swimming. I listened to my Coach on every detail possible about technique and race strategy and implemented it into my swims. I was definitely a ways off in the beginning from a nat cut, but by the end of the season I did it! I made it to my first Nationals in my first season back in 2 years!
Fast forward to the end of my junior year I have made massive time drops in all of my events. I placed at my sectional meet in the 100 Backstroke, and was a split second away from a state cut. Then when I was ready to shave off even more time in my Backstroke, IM, and freestyle events... Coronavirus happened. My team put together a mini time trial meet approved by the YMCA (They allowed teams in our state to host time trial meets at our home pools because state got canceled.) We tapered for 3 DAYS leading up to it because it was that out of the blue. Luckily our whole team still did really well.
Please make sure to follow me into my last year as a senior, because I will be dropping more and more time in all of my events. Thanks for reading!
