I am currently a rising junior at Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland. As a scholar athlete, I have begun to search for a college where I can continue to pursue my goals in academics and swimming.
After graduating from Saint John Catholic School in Westminster, Maryland, I was awarded the Brother Isidore Scholarship for $10,000 per year by MSJ and accepted into the Brother James Kelly Honors Program where I take all honors and/or AP level academic classes. I have made the honor roll eight consecutive quarters and have maintained a 4.67 GPA and a 6 out of 260 class ranking. In both my freshman and sophomore years, I have won first place in my school's National History Day competition in the research paper category and advanced to the Baltimore City competition, where I won second place in my sophomore year competition. In my sophomore year, I was honored to receive the nomination to represent Mount Saint Joseph at the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference in May. I am also part of the National Honor Society as well and hope to be accepted into Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honors Society.
As a swimmer, I have competed for the CCY Piranhas for nine winter short-course seasons (both YMCA and USA), the Westminster Stingrays for seven summer seasons, Mount Saint Joseph’s Varsity team for two seasons, and the YCM Blue Crabs long course team during the spring/summer. Since my first season as a seven-year old, my coaches have instilled in me not just the basic fundamentals of swimming the different strokes, but also the meaningfulness of setting goals and challenging myself to always improve whenever I dive into the pool.
Over the past nine seasons, I have worked hard to achieve my swimming goals, whether it was just swimming best times as a seven and eight year old, to qualifying for Winterfest and Districts as a nine year old, to qualifying for States as a ten and eleven year old, to qualifying for finals at Winterfest, Districts, and States each year since my twelve year old season and setting 30 individual CCY team records and 4 team relay records along the way. For the past two high schools seasons, I have qualified for the MIAA Championship finals and the National Catholic Swimming Championships, where I helped my relay team to swim the second fastest 200 Medley Relay time in school history. This year for my CCY club team, I once again qualified for Winterfest, States, and Districts as well as my first Speedo Sectionals Championship. Additionally, I qualified for the YMCA National Long Course Championship with my YCM long course team this summer. Future goals that I am trying to achieve this year include making it to finals at the YMCA National Championships and Speedo Sectionals and helping my MSJ relay team break the school record in the 200 Medley Relay with an All American relay time. By the end of my senior year, I hope to earn High School All American status and perhaps even break the MSJ records in 100 Fly and 100 Back, currently held by Olympic Gold Medalist Tommy Hannon.
As for college, I would like to attend a school where I can pursue my interests in history and political science to possibly pursue a career in the field of national security and/or government service. Swimming for a competitive college team would be a dream come true, and I hope to find a program that would help me reach my potential as a swimmer.
