My goal is to attend a college that will allow me the opportunity to not only receive a degree in computer science but also to continue to swim which has been a passion of mine for the last few years. My goal in college is to graduate with a degree in computer science I am currently interested in the area of computer programming but I am not sure if that is the area I want to go into. I have also been playing the trumpet for the last 7 years and participate in the Chelmsford High School marching band. Band has helped me learn to work as a team and following the timing of our band director has helped me focus not only in band but in school and swimming.
I have been competing with the Lowell YMCA Barracudas for the last 4 years. I began swimming with Chelmsford High School my Freshman year. This year I was recognized as one of the Lowell Sun second team athletes in swimming. I only started competing on a swim team while in 8th grade and each year through my hard work and dedication I have seen my times gone down. To help with my swimming I work with a trainer outside of the pool to help build my core muscles and strengthen my arms and legs.
I have overcome a lot and swimming has helped me through many of it. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age and have been able to use swimming a way to help me learn how to focus and bring that into my school work. I have worked hard to not let my ADHD effect me in school and through the help of my teachers, coaches and counselor have worked on strategies that help me succeed in school.
