During high school, I have learned that it is important to stay true to yourself. I have always had to work harder than most of my classmates academically. To that end, swimming was my escape, my safe haven, and a place where I could be myself. Being part of my club team and then my high school team, brought a feeling of great accomplishment and a sense of pride. These teams and coaches made me believe that I could achieve anything I put my mind to. Swimming is a part of my life that has made me challenge myself to do better, swim faster, study harder and reach for the next level.
I recently transferred to Union Catholic High School to concetrate on my grades, since the environment is one that parallels my swimming goals---this school has given me the confidence to excel in the classroom as well as the swimming pool. Sometimes change is needed to succeed---although I changed schools in my junior year, it has made me more confident in myself to be able to attain my goals.
My goal is to attend a college/university that will have the environment where I be challenged as well as be part of a team atmosphere. I want to be in a place where each person can be an individual while also being part of everything that college has to offer. College should be an experience that will always be a part of my life.
