Collin Woods '26 Recruiting Profile

I began swimming in 2019 and have only been swimming competitively since the summer of 2021. As a military child, I have been a member of 4 club teams (Chugiak Aquatics, Alaska, 2021; Occoquan Swimming, Virginia, 2021 to 2024; Watertown YMCA & Turbine Swim Club, 2024 to present), 1 summer team (Westridge Waves, Virginia, 2021 to 2023), and 2 High School Teams (South County High School, Virginia; Carthage Senior High School, New York). 

As a freshman on the Varsity Team in 2022, my interest in swimming at the collegiate level increased with the ultimate goal of pursuing a master's degree.

I like being put to work and keeping busy and believe this is a fundamental aspect of my career as a swimmer. I am working hard to improve my GPA through focused efforts in the classroom and enrolling in multiple Honors classes over the last two years. Pushing myself academically will better prepare me as a future college student. 

In addition to swimming, here are some areas that make me slightly different than some of my peers. I have been in Cub and Boy Scouts over the last 10 years and am currently a Life Scout working on the remaining requirements for Eagle Scout. I have a commendable work ethic demonstrated by maintaining my own lawn care and snow removal business for two years in Alaska. Additionally, I was employed at a local Smoothie King in June of 2023 until it closed and found work at a family owned ice cream shop soon after. Managing my time between swim, Scouts, school, and work forces me to effectively prioritize my tasks.
