Christian Burns '13 Recruiting Profile

The goals that I have established for the coming year are to break every individual record on the Pemroke High School record board. I currently hold the school record for the 500 yard Freestyle (a record that was unbroken for 25 years) I am currently on the Top 10 Board for 6 of the 8 events. Beyond that I have been working since last year's Sectional meet  to break the Genesee Livingston League and the Section V Class C 500 record, which have both been set at 4:45.00, qualify for states and win sectionals for both my individual events. I realize these are ambitious goals, but feel that achieving one will lead to achieving the next and then the next. Through the season, techniques and skills that I will learn, will be passed on to the Pembroke varsity team in order to have a succesful season, not just for myself, but for my teammates. Striving to win the league championship and helping three others teammates to break the 200 yard free style record for our school will encourage everyone to excel. Outside of school I would like to have successful season with my USA Swimming Club located in Clarence, NY and the YMCA team that I have recenty  joined. For the YMCA I hope to qualify for the national meet at the end of the season. My long term goals are to swim for a Division I school outside of my home state. I have taken the next step to acheive this goal by recently taking on a new dry land training excerise and joining a new club.

My family consisits of myself and 3 older brothers, Each of my siblings have excelled in different areas. After college I hope to become a United States Coast Guard Rescue swimmer, in order to do this I view swimming at the collegiate level as a necessary step. In addition, I have taken on a vigorous academic workload this year, scheduling several AP and college level courses. I realized my Junior year that college would be part of my future and have worked since that point to achieve in this area.
