I first decided that swimming was my sport when I started getting positive feedback from people after my meets regarding my technique. Also watching other pro swimmers influenced my drive. Through competitive swimming I have learned that progress doesn't happen overnight. In order to succeed, short and long term goals were necessary. Getting up early when I wanted to sleep in, attending strength workouts when I was tired. All of these and more have helped me reach my current times. I had multiple surgeries on my right ear drum when I was a young kid. I had to overcome not being able to swim for a while and adjust to different circumstances while healing. My first job was teaching kids to swim and lifeguarding. I enjoyed watching the kids progress, just as I did when I was younger. I was happy to receive the coaches award during my first year on my high school team and from then I've developed substantially. I am looking forward to the future and what I can achieve.
