Austin Winchester '20 Recruiting Profile

I first started swimming because of my sister. We are a super competitive family and as a kid I looked up to my sister so I decided to start swimming on the same team as her. Because we loved to compete, I naturally started to work as hard as I could to beat her. This same discipline and competitive mindset has carried itself for the past 8 years all the way to where I am now. Even though I have worked hard this entire time, there are obstacles that I face that I have to overcome every day. I suffer from migraines that can be as often as 7 times a week or as little as 2-3 times a week, for the past 5 years. I believe that migraines have made me even more mentally tough than before and has helped to shape who I have become. I believe I am ready for all the challenges and opportunities college has to offer, and would love it if a college took the time to express interest in me as a person and an athlete.
