Emerson Rutherford-Parish '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I'm Emerson and mostly I'm a freestyler (everything from 50 FR to 800 FR) although lately I have been enjoying 200 Fly and 100 Breast as well. I enjoy racing...I like the adrenaline rush and winning. 

I have 3 big interests and have been juggling them for many years. I hope to include vocal music, math, and swimming while I am in college. 

I love math and I love understanding pace times and how the "math" can help me win races. I love singing and making music and have been in an international touring choir and other elite choirs for 9 years. And I have been swimming since I was 6 years old. I am also in a in an International Baccalaureate program and balance the needs of two elite activities and a demanding school environment and have for many years. I like being busy.

I love being a part of a swim team. I love cheering on my teammates and my brother and sharing all our successes. 

A note about 2020-22:

I have had limited opportunities to train and compete in Ontario during the COVID pandemic. Ontario was shut down for training (except Olympic trial athletes) March 2020-July 2020, December 2020-February 2021, April  -August 2021 And again in January 2022.  There was one swim meet between March 2020 to April 2022.

My family went to New Mexico in April 2020 in order to allow me to swim. My training time there was better but still constrained because of different time zones for online school and pool time issues due to COVID protocols. I was able to swim in 3 local competitions, 2 of which were at over 5000 ft in altitude. I was proud to make the Western Speedo Summer Sectionals held at UT Austin July 2021. I now have sectionals cuts for Western Spring, Summer, and Federal Way Sectionals..We went back to New Mexico in January 2022 and I was able to compete a bunch and refresh a bunch of my off event times. I attended Four Corners Sectionals in March 2022. I competed at the Canadian Eastern Championships April 21-24.
