Hello, my name is Jack Ussery. I am a Sophomore and I like long walks on the beach and reading poetry by candlelight. Just Kidding! I don't have time for that. I'm a swimmer.
In all honesty, School and Swimming consume my time. But that's ok because I love them both! I love the fact that hard work in the pool and in the classroom pays off every time.
I come from a large family. I am the eldest of 4 boys and 16 cousins (Christmas is a rodeo). When I do get free time, I like to spend it fishing, hunting, or golfing. We are a values driven family. We live by three core values which I believe in and use everyday to make decisions. These three values are hard work, integrity, and love. I am by no means perfect, but having core values helps re-center me if I get off track.
I understand that swimming is an individual sport. But for me it’s not a solitary sport. I am lucky to have great teammates. We push each other every morning and afternoon to be the best that we can be. I’m really thankful for those relationships and the accountability we hold for each other.
My ultimate goal is to maximize my potential as a swimmer, student, and person. I obviously don’t know what that looks like. But wherever I am, I want to try to keep getting better everyday.
